While we cannot take away all of the pain of our world, especially that of the black community, we want to do our part by bringing awareness and support to black women in tech. While the Women in Technology Conference Louisville (WITLOU) is committed to supporting women of all colors, a large amount of research shows that black women face the largest hurdles to get into tech jobs, and often new technology is created without attention to how it will be used by or affect people of color.
WITLOU is committed to continuing to provide an inclusive and supportive environment, to enable a broad spectrum of ladies to attend the event, to support charitable organizations that are inclusive, and to provide programming that will inform attendees of the issues and how to address them. While it may sound counterintuitive, one of the things we can do to show our support and love for women of all color, race, and ethnicity is by selecting an organization that focuses on black young women. We must understand that when Black women enter, we all enter. With that in mind, we are selecting TECH-Nique as this year’s social impact organization! 2020 Social Outreach Project Selected
Each year, the staff of the Louisville Women in Technology Conference selects a local nonprofit organization that promotes girls and women entering into a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) field in an inclusive way.
Our 2020 Social Impact partner is Tech-Nique. To kick off our support, $5 of every ticket to the conference that is purchased in June will be donated this outstanding non-profit organization
TECH-Nique’s mission is to create a world where the voices and experiences of underrepresented minorities are welcomed and celebrated in the field of technology and where members of these groups feel empowered not just to be consumers of technology, but also creators and leaders in the technology field.

June Monthly WITLOU Planning Meeting
Join us on Friday for our monthly planning committee meeting- open to anyone who wants to help! Lots of exciting updates this month! Also looking for some feedback and opinions.
Women in tech matter so that the future generations of women will not only join but SURPASS the work we do today. Women in tech matter because they bring creativity and innovation! Technology is too important to leave to just men! Sponsor the WITLOU conference and help close the gender gap so that technology is ready for the next pandemic!
The marketing committee is seeking better ways to engage with our audience. We specifically need people who have skills in SEO, analytics, and digital graphics to provide their ideas and input into our plans. If you would be willing to volunteer just one hour a month for a meeting and potentially one additional hour to review materials, please contact our staff liaison Aly Goldberg.
