2020 Social Outreach Project – TECH-Nique
Our 2020 Social Impact partner is TECH-Nique. To kick off our support, $5 of every ticket to the conference that is purchased in June will be donated this outstanding non-profit organization
TECH-Nique’s mission is to create a world where the voices and experiences of underrepresented minorities are welcomed and celebrated in the field of technology and where members of these groups feel empowered not just to be consumers of technology, but also creators and leaders in the technology field. In all of our programs, we focus on learning technology for the purpose of reflecting our unique identities and empowering our communities.
As the trend of Black women’s participation in technology creation is declining, we specifically focus on this group, but our programs are open to all who want to participate in creating change through the medium of technology. We are also creating an ecosystem of support and opportunity – after graduating from our programs, participants are invited to become part of the TECH-Nique leadership team, serving as near-peer mentors, facilitators, and role models to younger participants as they continue their journey into technology.
